This article explains how to request Brocade TruFOS Certificates using the Hitachi Vantara Support site, which redirects to the Assist Portal.
Applicable to customers who access Brocade entitlements through Hitachi Support instead of Broadcom CSP.
Step 1 — Log in to Hitachi Vantara Support
- Go to https://support.hitachivantara.com
- Log in with your Support credentials.
- If you do not have an account, create one first.
Step 2 — Navigate to the Assist Portal
- Go to Downloads
- Select Network Downloads
- Select Brocade Downloads
- You will be redirected to the Assist Portal
Step 3 — Request the TruFOS Certificate
- In the Assist Portal, select Request Trusted FOS (TruFOS) Certificate
- Choose one of the following:
- Enter 1–10 LIDs/WWNs manually, or
- Upload a file with up to 100 LIDs/WWNs
Step 4 — Download the certificate
Each certificate appears with a download cloud icon.
Download the .xml license file.
Step 5 — Install the certificate
Run:
license --install -h <host> -t <protocol> -u <user> -f <certificate.xml>
Step 6 — Verify installation
Run:
license --show
Look for the entry:
Trusted FOS (TruFOS) Certificate, including generation and expiration date.

If you receive the error “The information about this unit cannot be displayed due to conflicts in unit ownership.” when retrieving your License ID (LID):
→ You must use the Broadcom CSP Portal directly, not through an OEM redirect.

- Certificates are free for entitled switches.
Important note from Broadcom:
- Always go directly to the CSP page.
- DO NOT use redirects from 3rd Party portals if there are OEM ownership conflicts.
- Use an incognito window if redirects persist.
