How to request and download a Brocade TruFOS Certificate via CSP.
Objective
This article explains how to request and download Brocade TruFOS Certificates directly from the Broadcom Customer Support Portal (CSP). This is the recommended method by Broadcom and avoids OEM ownership conflicts during certificate generation.
Environment
The following platforms require TruFOS certificates depending on the Fabric OS version:
Enterprise (FOS 9.1.0 or later)
- Brocade X6
- Brocade G630 (Switch Types 173 and 184)
- Brocade X7
- Brocade G730
Midrange / Entry (FOS 9.2.0 or later)
- Brocade G720
- Brocade G620
- Brocade G610
- Brocade 7810
Procedure
Step 1 — Obtain the License ID (LID) of the switch
Run:
license --show -lid
If an ownership error appears, the CSP Portal must be used.
Step 2 — Request Certificates (Recommended Method)
Use the Broadcom CSP Portal
This is the preferred and most reliable method (also recommended by Broadcom due to OEM conflict issues).
- Go to https://support.broadcom.com and log in.
- Navigate to:
Hardware → Brocade Storage Networking - Open Licensing Portal.
Step 3 — Open the TruFOS Certificate Request Tool
- Select TruFOS Certificates.
- Choose one of the following:
- Enter 1–10 LIDs manually, or upload an XML file containing up to 100 LIDs.
Step 4 — Generate and download the certificates
- Once generated, each certificate appears with a download icon.
- Download the certificate as .xml.
- Click the cloud‑icon download button to save them.
Step 5 — Install the TruFOS Certificate on the switch
Run:
license --install -h <host> -t <protocol> -u <user> -f <certificate.xml>
NOTE: In FOS 9.2.2, the -p <password> parameter is removed and the command is interactive.
Step 6 — Verify installation
Run:
license --show
Look for the entry:
Trusted FOS (TruFOS) Certificate, including generation and expiration date.
