Answers

  1. Does multi-pathing work properly in these AIX servers if G1000 or Gx00 is attached?
Answer: There are new ODMs to identify the G1000 and Gx00, so there may be some issue in identification by AIX.

Excerpt:

UPDATING the existing Hitachi ODM filesets:

To install a new(er) version of the ODM updates, mount the install media or copy to a directory and use installp (or smitty install) to install the updates.  Smitty or installp will ensure that they are installed correctly based on the information in the table of contents (.toc) file provided with the updates.  All updates require a reboot.

However, if all are installed simultaneously, then only 1 reboot is required.  Reboots are the recommended way to update the ODM by IBM and Hitachi. Some experienced administrators may choose to avoid a reboot, by removing old devices using rmdev, install the updates, run the cfgmgr, bosboot and savebase commands.  If any issues are experienced using the manual (ie no reboot) method a reboot will be requested by the support engineers.

Also, as mentioned within the document, you only have IBM support.

If the ODM is installed:

HITACHI ODM UPDATES (device definitions for AIX):

Installing the Hitachi ODM updates will set the default attributes, rw_timeout=60 and queue_depth=2, and reserve_policies.   The Hitachi ODM update is a set of predefined attributes to identify disk devices.  It is not a driver.  It is required for support from IBM under the Service Implementation Plan with Hitachi Vantara.

Additional Notes

If AIX ODM is not upgraded, you will see  the subsystem as a generic disk.
