HPP Performance Related Data

HPP performance-related data

Performance issues with HPP systems typically fall into one of three (3) categories:

  1. Ingest performance issues
  2. Deduplication performance issues
  3. Replication performance issues

Ingest Performance

In most cases, ingest performance issues arise when using the Open-Storage Technology feature of Symantec's NetBackup application, a IP networking based data transfer technology. Being IP-based, ingest performance issues can easily turn into networking performance issues. As such a networking analysis (see Network_Performance_Data_Collection.pdf) should be performed and the resulting data uploaded to us for analysis. In addition to this, it is a 'best practice' that a standard support ticket be generated and up loaded to us for analysis; consult the 'HPP Support tickets' page for instructions on generating a support ticket.

Deduplication Performance

A number of factors internal to the HPP can impact deduplication performance .As such a standard support ticket should be generated and up loaded to us for analysis. Consult the 'HPP Support tickets' page for instructions on generating a support ticket.

Replication Performance

Replication performance can be impacted by deduplication performance. As such a standard support ticket should be generated and up loaded to us for analysis. Consult the 'HPP Support tickets' page for instructions on generating a support ticket.

In addition, networking-related issues can impact the performance of replication. As such a networking analysis (see Network_Performance_Data_Collection.pdf) should be performed and the resulting data uploaded to us for analysis.
