Deploying a host

You can deploy an ESXi host to a cluster or datacenter.

Before you begin

Verify that any compute devices that have been onboarded with ESXi credentials in UCP Advisor and the ESXi hosts are not managed in any vCenter prior to deployment.

NoteVerify that a vCenter is registered and attached to the UCP system.

Procedure

  1. Browse to the system where you want to deploy an ESXi host, and then click Deploy Host.

  2. For Host and Host Profile:

    • Select Hosts

      Select one or more servers to deploy.

    • Host Profile

      (Optional) Select a host profile. (Available for VMware vSphere Enterprise Plus licenses only.)

    • License Key

      (Optional) Enter the ESXi license key.

  3. For Datacenter or Cluster, select a datacenter or cluster to deploy.

  4. Click Submit

Results

The selected ESXi host or hosts are deployed to the selected datacenter cluster.

Next steps

If the cluster where you added the host is a VSAN cluster, manually configure the VSAN in vCenter. If the cluster is part of a distributed virtual (DV) switch, manually add the host to the switch from vCenter.
