Troubleshooting bare metal server PXE boot failure when OS provisioning

Use the following guidelines and suggested steps to help resolve bare metal server PXE boot issues when performing OS provisioning.

  • Condition:

After provisioning a bare metal server with an OS, the server does not PXE boot.

  • What it Means:

The bare metal server port is not set to PXE VLAN as the native VLAN, or the port mode is preventing access to the Ethernet switches.

  • Corrective Action:

Set the native VLAN on the bare metal server port to PXE VLAN, or enable the port mode to access the Ethernet switches, and then retry the OS provisioning operation.
