Known issues

Defect ID

Two Toolbox items show up in "Files in use" window during uninstallation.

There is no difference between the two items.
Choose either Toolbox item.

You can onboard host names or IP addresses. However, there is no capability to convert or compare IP addresses to host names with vCenter.

For example, if the host is registered in vCenter using its host name, and the node is on-boarded with its IP address, some features, such as vSAN drives,  do not display any information.

Use the IP address.

All tabs under Administration fail to load after the system is left idle.

This issue occurs after adding servers and navigating to the Servers tab, then leaving the UI idle.

Upon returning to the Administration section, all of the tabs such as Configuration, Compute, Storage, Network, Backup, Log Bundle fails to load and displays errors such as, "Loading configuration failed" or  "Loading Compute failed" with no data shown in the windows.

This is a session ID timeout issue. The session timeout occurs after 25 minutes.

Navigate back from vCenter Home > UCP Advisor icon, select an appliance, and access the Administration tab or navigate further.

vSAN: Refresh doesn't work after a host is disconnected.

1. Create a vSAN and check for its fields in the UCP Advisor UI.

2. Disconnect one of the hosts in the vSAN cluster.

3. In the vCenter UI, all disk information goes blank and the status of the host is disconnected.

4. In the UCP Advisor UI, the status remains the same even after multiple refreshes. The disks also continue to appear in the vSAN inventory screen.

Navigate back from vCenter Home > UCP Advisor icon. Select a UCP Appliance and navigate further.

Provisioning datastore to cluster fails.

Create a host group and add WWNs for both hosts in the host group.

1. Go to Storage > DataStore > Provision a DataStore and select both hosts.

2. Create DataStore task failed.

Verify that there is only one host per host group.

The confirmation window will not close after the power operation fails, due to the same power state.

This occurs while attempting to perform the same power operation that the server state is already in (for example, power ON while the server is already ON). Even after the operation fails, the confirmation box remains open.

Close the confirmation window by selecting the close button or the X icon on the window.

UI displays error message 'Loading <Resource> failed" for all storage resources

UI can fail to load storage resources such as logical units or host groups right after performing tasks to create these resources, or after a refresh of the storage system.

Navigate back from vCenter Home > UCP Advisor icon. Select a UCP Appliance, access the storage resource, and attempt loading the storage resources.

ESXi deployment issue: Datacenter name is missing from the Summary window and deployment is performed to the wrong datacenter with duplicate cluster name.

In the Summary window of vCenter Hosts and Clusters, the datacenter name is not displayed. However, this information is displayed after the deployment is completed. Since the UI does not display the datacenter name, in the case of two clusters with the same name in two datacenters, the host is deployed to a wrong datacenter cluster.

Make sure you don't have two clusters with the same name in different datacenters. If necessary, rename the datacenter.

Error message "Onboarding Storage failed" is displayed due to a missing command device.

Message: "Error occurred while adding storage. Error occurred while connection to storage device 56227. Server internal error: missing configuration info for storage id: 56227" is displayed when adding a storage resource. The command device on the UCP Gateway host is unavailable.

Provision a storage array command device and present it to the UCP Gateway VM host.

All device-related operations do not work with host name/FQDN.

Use the host IP address instead.

Upgrading Brocade G620 and Cisco switches can fail due to SSH host keys.

Upgrading Cisco 3048, 93180YC, 93180LC, and Brocade G620 switches can fail if the SCP server host key changes. This is expected and is a security design.

Clear the SSH host keys on the Cisco and Brocade switches.

To clear Cisco 93180YC and 93180LC switches:

R1-93180LC-EX-B# clear ssh hosts

To clear Brocade FC G620 switches:

R1-G620-A: admin> sshutil delknownhost -all

This command deletes all the known host keys.

Please confirm with Yes (Y,y), No (N,n) [N]: y

All known hosts are deleted successfully.

The create command device operation can fail from Toolbox when the proxy settings are enabled.

Enable bypass proxy server for the local addresses option in the proxy settings.

Unable to download files through the Swagger UI.

Downloaded files appear corrupted when they are downloaded from Swagger UI.

Use an https call in a browser, use postman client, or other methods to download files.

This is a known Swagger issue:

vRO Storage workflows: Storage systems do not appear in the menu for selection.

The added storage is not listed in the HitachiStorageConnector list.

1) Add the storage device using a vRO workflow.

2) Open the workflow Create LU in dynamic Pool and try selecting the added storage in the Hitachi storage array field.

Use the Filter tab to identify and select the storage system, or use the vRO web client.

Swagger UI cannot handle very large files.

UndefinedNameError: reference to undefined name 'UploadFirmwareBundle' (click for details)
    at (Documents/Converged/UCP_Advisor/2.0_Patch_1/Release_Notes/Unified_Compute_Platform_(UCP)_Advisor_2.0.0_Patch_1_Release_Notes), /content/body/div/div[7]/table/tr[16]/td[2]/p[2]/span[2]/code/span, line 1, column 1
REST API call cannot be executed through the Swagger UI because the firmware bundle is large (file size is greater than 3.5 GB).

The Swagger UI returns a no content response, and the operation is not executed.

Use a curl command to execute this API.

Edit Zone removes existing WWN member if it is not in any alias.

In the UCP Advisor UI, for creating or editing a zone, it accepts only alias name and not WWN directly.

But in the switch CLI, the user can create a zone with WWN as well.

Consider that the zone has WWN as a member and not the alias. When you select that zone and click Edit Zone, the WWN is not listed in the list of members.

When you make any changes like selecting a new alias name and click Submit, the existing WWN is removed automatically.

Create an alias first, and then create or edit the zone. Do not create a zone with WWN via the switch CLI.

Replace Host: The host is placed in an incorrect data center when two clusters with same name exist in different datacenters.

If two clusters with same name exist in two data centers and Replace Host operation is attempted for a host in one of those clusters, the replacement host is placed in a different cluster.

Make sure that no two clusters have the same name in different data centers. If necessary, rename the data center.

Sync VLAN UI may only show one port for sync but backend syncs both switches

UI will only show 1 of 2 VM NICs for server being synchronized. However, the backend code will synchronize both VM NICs with the switch.

Check vCenter task to confirm both switches are synchronized with VLAN configuration.

Upgrading BIOS will reset the boot order.

Boot order set to SATADOM over PXEboot is reset when UCP Advisor performs a BIOS upgrade.

Reboot the server, login to the console, and manually set the boot order.

Replace host workflow fails to remove host from vCenter if host is part of vDS.

Replace host workflow fails at the very end if host is part of a vDS.

Remove the host from vDS and then try removing it from vCenter.

If the UCP Appliance instance already exists, you can't create a new UCP Appliance with the same name.

1. Create a single UCP Appliance instance.

2. Stop the UCP Advisor web service.

3. Use the vCenter plugin to delete the UCP Appliance.

4. Start the UCP Advisor web service.

5. Create new UCP Appliance instance with the same name. An error indicating existence of a duplicate UCP Appliance appears.

Use the REST API command to delete the UCP Appliance, and then use the UCP Advisor GUI to create the UCP Appliance instance with the same name.

Set boot option does not change the server BIOS Boot Option #1.

Change the boot option in BIOS.

UI crashes when multiple appliances are created or when multiple sessions are active.

After multiple UCP Appliances are created or when multiple users access the same vCenter, the server windows fail to load information or show errors:

1. Individual managed objects fail to load.

2. Incorrect server count is shown: 0 in most places.

3. Permission denied errors are displayed.

Navigate out of UCP Advisor and then navigate back in.

In Create Zone window, clicking on any unselected alias (not the checkbox) unselects an existing selected alias

1. Click Create Zone and enter the zone name.

2. Click on any new alias in the Alias Name field to select it.

3. Click on a different alias.

The previously selected alias is unselected.

Use the checkbox to select an alias.

Syslog agent does not forward compute device logs after the Windows service is restarted.

Restart the UCP Advisor Windows service after the Syslog agent Windows service is restarted.

Brocade ICX7450 (UCP2000 Management) switch has 28 ports, only 27 ports are displayed in the switch diagram. The missing port is 1/1/22.

Contact Customer Support.

ucp-advisor-sidecar is not restarting after a crash.

1. Find the Process IDs for Local Address containing port 23016.

C:\Windows\system32>netstat -a -n -o | findstr :23016

  TCP              LISTENING       3456

  TCP    [::]:23016             [::]:0                 LISTENING       3456

2. Stop all processes with the following PID:

C:\Windows\system32>TaskKill.exe /F /PID 3456

SUCCESS: The process with PID 3456 has been terminated.

3. Wait for 2 minutes and verify that ucp-advisor-sidecar is RUNNING.

vCenter inventory (Host and Cluster) shows blank in provision datastore, deploy ESXi host, Replace ESXi host and vLAN synchronization.

1. Create folder under datacenter, and add ESXi to it.

2. Navigate to Provision datastore / Deploy host / VLAN sync / Replace hosts wizard.

UCP Advisor cannot get vCenter inventory when the vCenter datacenter contains a folder.

Manually remove the folder under datacenter from the vCenter inventory.

Install script failed to run initialize script when open ssh service failed to start

1. Mount UCP advisor medial bundle, and run the install script.

2. The install script fails to start open ssh service and fails to run initialize script.

After VM is rebooted, the UCP appliance cannot be created from the webclient.

Run Initialize script located under UCP advisor controller VM
