MAPI signal

When you enable the Gather HCP MAPI Metrics signal for a source, HCM uses the HCP management API (MAPI) to gather object storage metrics for each HCP tenant.

TipThe HCP Authentication Type field can be used when creating a MAPI signal source to select which type of authentication should be used when connecting to an HCP system. Users can select either their local credentials or Active Directory credentials. The default value is Local

To configure HCP to allow MAPI access:

Procedure

  1. Log into the HCP System Management Console.

  2. Select Security > MAPI.

  3. On the Management API page, select Enable the HCP management API.

  4. In the IP address Allow and Deny lists, make sure that the HCP system allows MAPI access to all IP addresses in the HCM system. You can do this, for example, by adding all HCM system instance IP addresses to the Allow list.

  5. Click Update Settings.

Next steps

To collect data using MAPI, HCM needs the username and password for an HCP system-level user account.

If you don't have an HCP user account you want to use, to create one:

  1. Log into the HCP System Management Console.
  2. Select Security > Users > Create User Account.
  3. Specify a username, full name, and password for the account.
  4. Ensure that Enable account is selected.
  5. On the Roles tab, select at least the Monitor role.
  6. Click Create User Account.
