Alerts

HCM alerts you of events that need your attention. You can view these alerts through the Monitor App, REST API, or CLI.

To view these configuration settings, click the User (GUID-F65C10E6-C9EB-4958-9692-6E677A75CBF1-low.png) icon, then click Notifications.

NoteHCM runs within an HCI system. Many of these alerts can be addressed only from the Admin App. To access it from HCM, click the three-line icon (GUID-1A4C6D30-FD29-42B8-9926-E14E1A55068E-low.png). Then, click Admin App.

SevereInstance <ip-address> disk usage severe thresholdThe specified instance has less than 10% free disk space. Add additional storage to the instance.

Note: If an instance runs out of disk space, the system might become unresponsive.

SevereMaster Instance <ip-address> is down
  • Restart the instance hardware or virtual machine.
  • Restart the run script on the instance. This script is located in the install's bin folder.
SevereService is downAssess the health of your instances. If one is down, try the following:
  • Restart the instance hardware or virtual machine.
  • Restart the run script on the instance. This script is located in the install's bin folder.

If your instances are healthy and the problem persists, contact support.

SevereWorker Instance <ip-address> is down
  • Restart the instance hardware or virtual machine.
  • Restart the run script on the instance. This script is located in the install's bin folder.
WarningInstance <ip-address> disk usage warning thresholdThe specified instance has less than 25% free disk space. Add additional storage to the instance.

Note: If an instance runs out of disk space, the system might become unresponsive.

WarningLicense expires soonYour license expires soon. Contact your sales representative to purchase a new one.

Note: If your license expires, functionality is extremely limited. For more information, see the help that's available from the Admin App.

WarningLicense expiredYour license has expired. Contact your sales representative to purchase a new one.
WarningPackage installation failedYour system failed to install a package that you uploaded.

WarningService below recommendationThe service is currently running on fewer than the recommended number of instances. Configure this service to run on additional instances.

WarningService under-protectedA service has lost redundancy; that is, one or more instances on which that service is running are unresponsive. Assess the health of your instances. If one is down, try the following:
  • Restart the instance hardware or virtual machine.
  • Restart the run script on the instance. This script is located in the install's bin folder.

Note: If your instances are healthy and the problem persists, contact support.

WarningWorkflow task <workflow-name> HALTEDA workflow task encountered an error and was stopped.

WarningSSL server certificate chain expires soonA certificate in the SSL server certificate chain for this system expires soon. If the certificate chain expires, users cannot access the system.

WarningSSL server certificate chain expiredThe SSL server certificate chain for this system contains an expired certificate. Users cannot access the system until the certificate chain is replaced.

Warning (HCM-specific)Workflow Monitor App Workflow is not running and will be restarted.No action required. The workflow will automatically restart.
Warning (HCM-specific)The Monitor App is not processing data fast enough. Dashboard data is more than 15 minutes behind the latest data from the source. While in this state, monitors might fail to be triggered or might be triggered unexpectedly. If this alert persists, your system might be undersized. Consider adding more instances.Wait to see if the Monitor App catches up and the alert goes away. If it doesn't, add more instances to the system.
Severe (HCM-specific)The Monitor App is not processing data fast enough. Dashboard data is more than 30 minutes behind the latest data from the source. While in this state, monitors might fail to be triggered or might be triggered unexpectedly. If this alert persists, your system might be undersized. Consider adding more instances.Wait to see if the Monitor App catches up and the alert goes away. If it doesn't, add more instances to the system.
