In accordance with Article 3(2) of Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 (Data Act), Hitachi Vantara LLC and its Affiliates (“Company”) hereby provide the prospective user of a connected product(s) (“Customer”) with the following information. “Affiliate” means any Hitachi Vantara LLC group company that is directly or indirectly controlled by Hitachi Vantara LLC.

In accordance with Article 3(2) of Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 (Data Act), Hitachi Vantara LLC and its Affiliates (“Company”) hereby provide the prospective user of a connected product(s) (“Customer”) with the following information. “Affiliate” means any Hitachi Vantara LLC group company that is directly or indirectly controlled by Hitachi Vantara LLC.

Volume of Data: Depends on system activity. Syslog has a maximum of 488.2MB and audit log up to 122.5MB

Data is continuously generated in real-time

 Audit log and syslog files are kept on device up to 250,000 lines and may be transferred to an FTP/syslog server or downloaded

Hitachi Disaster Recovery Solution

Information Notice for Product 

 

In accordance with Article 3(2) of Regulation (EU) 2023/2854 (Data Act), Hitachi Vantara LLC and its Affiliates (“Company”) hereby provide the prospective user of a connected product(s) (“Customer”) with the following information. “Affiliate” means any Hitachi Vantara LLC group company that is directly or indirectly controlled by Hitachi Vantara LLC. 

 

Name of the connected product 

 

HNAS 5000 series server, VSP One File 30 series server, Systems Management Unit (SMU) and VSP One File Administrator management UI software (”Hitachi Disaster Recovery Solution”) 

 

The type, format and estimated volume of product data 

 

System logs event and debug logs, management audit log, filesystem auditing log, and telemetry data including configuration, performance, power consumption, and temperature 

 

Format: text, binary 

 

Volume of Data: Depends on system activity and combination of features enabled/used. Overall log size is estimated anywhere from 10MB and up to 2 GB in some cases. 

Continuous and real-time product data availability

Data is continuously generated in real-time 
Product capable of storing product data  Capable of storing data on device or on a remote server  
Retention period 

 Audit log files are kept on device up to 20 files each with max size 10M before compression and may be transferred to an FTP/syslog server or downloaded. 

 

Audit logs and syslog files are retained for 15 days by default.  

  • After 15 days, logs are permanently deleted from the database. 

Number of Lines or File Size 

  • Quantitative limit is the number of entries in the database (10,000 entries threshold for cleanup logic). 

Dashboards / Metrics 

  • Retention period: 720 days 
  • Retention size: 200GB

Hitachi Data Protection Suite
Name of the connected product

HDPS Hyperscale X Reference Architecture – N12 & N24

The type, format and estimated volume of product data

Generated product data is primarily operational in nature and may include:  text-based log files, json, xml, and internal metadata formats.

Servers & tiered storage in the solution generate operational data to monitor server health metrics like disk failures, temperature, fan speed, backup data sources and backup storage targets, as well as information about individual backup jobs such as success or failure, time taken, or amount of data backed up.

Continuous and real-time product data availability

The data is continuously available and in real-time.

Product capable of storing product data HSX generated data is stored primarily on the HSX servers. Server metrics sent to Hitachi Remote Ops may be stored on Hitachi Remote Ops servers.
Retention period

Metadata about backups will be retained for at least as long as the backup retention policy.

Job history logs will be retained for ~90 days.

General application logs and agent logs are pruned after one or two days.

Other data is intended primarily for support and troubleshooting and can be retrieved using the “Send Logs” feature in the Commvault ComCell user interface.

UCP Advisor interacts with Hitachi Vantara storage arrays, servers, and network switches and operating systems.

Related Service Information

UCP Advisor collects inventory data (servers, switches, storage, firmware), configuration data (networking, BIOS/BMC information, Fibre Channel zoning, networking policies), operational lifecycle data (upgrade states & automated workflows). The data is primarily carried in structured JSON via REST APIs and in databases within the software.

Volume scales with the number of managed devices and the amount of telemetry retained.

 

Users can access data through the UCP Advisor UI or by making direct REST API calls that return data in JSON format.

The readily available data is retained for as long as the system is in operation unless the customer purges or reconfigures storage/retention policies. Logs and telemetry retention are controlled by administrator‑configured settings. 
* Task retention period defaults to 30 days.
* Switch configuration backups default to retaining previous 10 backups
* Troubleshooting log bundles default to retaining previous 3 bundles

 

Usage of readily available data

. Hitachi may use the readily available data processed by UCP Advisor solely for purposes necessary to deliver, maintain, secure, and enhance the service, including:

  • ensuring proper functioning and performance of the monitoring features;
  • troubleshooting, diagnosing, or preventing technical issues;
  • improving accuracy, reliability, and user experience within the service;
  • maintaining security, stability, and integrity of the platform.

Hitachi does not use readily available data for unrelated commercial purposes, and does not create persistent historical datasets beyond what is necessary for the provision and improvement of the service. Only the current state of each monitored component is retained by the application.

 

Hitachi does not grant access to, or permit the use of, readily available data by any third parties. All such data is retained and processed solely within the Hitachi Vantara Group.

Related Service Information

The related services data which HRO collects form the equipment includes: Storage array dump, Server health logs, Application health logs, Storage array dump; server, application and switch health logs, Switch health logs, Application health log.

 

The data can be accessed either directly, by locally accessing the HRO agent’s data directory on the server where the agent is installed, or by contacting Hitachi Vantara using the contact details provided below.

 

The information is stored for up to 3 years within the HRO system.

Usage of readily available data

Hitachi may use the readily available data processed by HRO solely for purposes necessary to deliver, maintain, secure, and enhance the service, including:

  • ensuring proper functioning and performance of the monitoring features;
