TrueCopy Data Collection

RAID Subsystems

The following procedures should be followed when collecting data for Truecopy failures. They apply to 9900, 9900V, USP, NSC55, USP-V, USP-VM and VSP.

For TrueCopy performance problems, refer to the topics below.

  • Remote Copy Performance Data Collection
  • Open Systems Performance Data Collection
  • Mainframe Performance Data Collection
Customer or CE
  • Open Systems - Supply the data described in the CCI Data Collection procedures.
  • Detail exactly what was happening when the dumps were taken or the problem was occuring. For example, was there large TC Initial Copy or Resync activity being performed?
  • Mainframe - Collect the following RMF reports from 2 RMF intervals prior to any sidefile rise, through the sidefile puncture, and 1 report after the puncture.
    • Dasd activity
    • Chpid activity
    • I/O queuing report
    • Cache report
  • Mainframe - Provide Syslog and Erep reports.
  • Provide Graph-Track or Perfmon data if this is a performance problem - refer to the links above.
  • Provide the time difference between the clocks on the MCU and RCU and real time.
CE
  • Turn on the SVP monitor on MCU and RCU.
  • Turn on Mode 31 on MCU and RCU.
  • Turn on Mode 194 in RCU (9900/9900V ONLY).
  • Turn on HRC monitor of MCU.
  • Perform AutoDump/detail on MCU and RCU when the failure occurs or as soon afterwards as you can.
  • Turn off Mode 31 on MCU and RCU.

DF Subsystems

The following procedures should be followed when collecting data for Truecopy failures. They apply to 9500V and AMS.

For TrueCopy performance problems, also refer to the topics below.

  • Midrange Performance Data Collection - SNM2 GUI
  • Midrange Performance Data Collection - SNM2 CLI

Customer or CE
  • Supply the data described in the CCI Data Collection procedures.
  • Detail exactly what was happening when the dumps were taken or the problem was occurring. For example, was there large TC Initial Copy or Resync activity being performed?
  • Provide simple traces from the MCU and RCU taken when the failure occurs.
  • Provide PFM data if this is a performance problem - refer to the links above.
  • Provide the time difference between the clocks on the MCU and RCU and real time.
  • Provide a diagram showing connectivity between the MCU and RCU including switches, port numbers, link and distance.
