EOL Definitions 

End-of-Life Process

A process that guides the final business operations associated with the product life cycle. The end-of-life process consists of a series of technical and business milestones and activities that, once completed, make a Product obsolete. Once obsolete, the Product is not sold, manufactured, improved, repaired, maintained, or supported.

General Availability (GA)

Product available to order and ship.

Withdrawn from Marketing

A formal notification period, which specifies the Withdrawn from Sales date, and provides a time during which the customer can plan for last time purchases and support, and/or transition to a replacement Product.

Withdrawn from Sales

The last date to order the Product through normal Hitachi Vantara point-of-sales mechanisms. After this date, the Product is no longer generally available.

End-of-Upgrade (EoU)

Last day to upgrade qualified components or to a new system. 

End-of-Service-Life (EOSL)

The date on which Hitachi Vantara ceases to provide support services for a Product.

 

Hitachi Vantara Product Life-cycle Matrix

Here you’ll find comprehensive information and links to Hitachi Vantara product life-cycle communications organized in one place beginning at General Availability (GA) when a product is added to the matrix, throughout its life-cycle and beyond.

Please Note: For all products that are actively being sold (End-of-Service-Life date has not been announced), the total maintenance (or software support) should never extend beyond a five-year total support term. Hitachi Vantara’s max maintenance/software support term is five-years. 

No terms beyond five years should ever be sold to an end customer, inlcuding extensions to the initial sales term, unless explicit written approval is provided by Product Support. For example, Product X (with no EOSL date published) has an initial five-year support contract from September 2022 through September 2027. Suppose a three-year extension is requested in September of 2023 for the same asset (theoretically taking the supported term through September of 2030). In that case, the request will be denied because it violates the five-year max term policy. For this example, the requestor will be informed that we can only approve renewal requests through September 2028 for a total term of 5 years.

In most cases any of the above appliances may be eligible for renewal providing:

  1. The software has not reached End-of-Service-Life.
  2. Existing/original hardware components have not reached their End-of-Support-Life or are replaced with new, currently GA hardware from Hitachi Vantara’s Product Portfolio. For details, check the EOSL status of the applicable solution components in this article or speak to your sales representative.

Hitachi Vantara realizes that our customers need to retain content information for long periods of time, perhaps decades. Content Platform is engineered to utilize industry-standard interfaces and solution hardware platform components sold by Hitachi Vantara.  HCP solution appliance hardware components that reach their EOSL may be refreshed with new/currently GA hardware certified by the platform.

  1. The software has not reached End-of-Service-Life.
  2. Existing/original hardware components have not reached their End-of-Support-Life or are replaced with new, currently GA hardware from Hitachi Vantara’s Product Portfolio.  For details, check the EOSL status of the applicable solution components in this article or speak to your sales representative.

End-of-Support-Life Policy for Bundled Solutions

The EOSL date for a given instance of any of our bundled solutions (e.g. UCP, HCAP, HCP, HDI, HPP) is identical to the earliest-occurring EOSL date among its current hardware components. Please refer to the relevant component entries in this matrix.

Extended Life-Cycle Support

When possible, extensions to EOSL will be on a "Best Effort" basis only. This option is not guaranteed and dependent on spares availability.
