Tracing a performance bottleneck in Analyzer viewpoint

  1. Log in to Analyzer viewpoint.

  2. The Data Center Status map shows critical sites in red. In this example, we are examining the Tokyo data center. Click on the site to reach the Data Center View.

  3. Scroll down to Storage System Status. Any storage system in critical status is listed first. Let's assume that system VSP_G400_410438 is showing a critical warning for LDEV READ RESPONSE and CWPR as shown here.

  4. Hover over the Jump to Detail icon GUID-44F32C67-2B1F-4C34-B107-0C04D47A6720-low.png and click on the View link.

  5. In this example, the Historical Key Metrics shows the timing of an increase in LDEV READ RESPONSE and CWPR.

  6. It's time to examine the resources. Scroll down to the Cache Write Pending Rate graph. Hover over the Jump to Detail icon GUID-44F32C67-2B1F-4C34-B107-0C04D47A6720-low.png and click the Cache View link.

  7. The next step is to compare the performance of CLPR0 and MPU-10 with the performance of the LDEVs using them. Hover over the Jump to Detail icon GUID-44F32C67-2B1F-4C34-B107-0C04D47A6720-low.png and click the Cache x Processor Details View link.

  8. The Random Write IOPS graph shows an increase in WRITE IOPS for LDEV #00:00:01. This is causing a decrease in CACHE HIT RATE of LDEV #00:00:05 (Read Hit Rate graph), which is slowing the READ RESPONSE.
