Case management

View a case

You can search and view cases from the map or from the Case Inventory.

  • From the map search by name, description, location, date.
  • From the Case Inventory you can
    • run a search for location or keywords
    • set a time start and end date and browse by date

List view

Toggle between detail view and list view using the icons on the top right.

Create a case

You can create a case from the following locations:
  • from the cases inventory window, in Visualization Suite
  • from the Digital assets window

Procedure

  1. In the Digital Assets window, select assets.

  2. Add details in the General Information window.

  3. Assign Permissions.

    See the Team Administration for more details.
  4. Select Assets to add to the case as evidence.

Results

The case is created with the details specified and evidence selected. A chain of custody is automatically established and logged.

View evidence tied to a case

NoteOwners can see all evidence tied to a case. Other users only see permitted evidence.

Digital Assets can be tied to a case as evidence. Access evidence tied to a case by:

  • location on the map
  • case from the Archive tab

From the map, select the evidence on the map to get a preview of each asset.

You can also view evidence attached to a case from the Case Details page. Click the Archive tab to see a list of evidence thumbnails.

Add evidence

From the Case file, click the Archive tab and select Add to as evidence to tie new evidence to a case.

View other digital assets

Digital Assets not assigned to a case are still viewable from the map. Select the Digital Assets icon to display available assets by location on the map.

Set evidence permissions

From the Archive tab select the Permissions from the sub menu and select the permissions for each user or user group.

  • Read Metadata

    Default: all metadata is hidden.

  • Read Chain of Custody
  • Update
  • Download/Share
  • Add Evidence to Case

    Select View Evidence Permissions to set different levels of permissions for individual pieces of evidence.
