Visualization Suite v6.3.0 Release Notes

About this document

This document (RN-95HVS000-14, March 2020) describes enhancements for Hitachi Visualization Suite v6.3.0 and it includes known issues and workarounds for known limitations.

Where to start

  • Download the software (available for Hitachi Vantara personnel only).
  • Find out what you need to do to set up Visualization Suite. See the installation (Hitachi Vantara personnel only) and administration topics.

About this release

This release introduces a few new features and enhancements.

Release v6.3.0 is available for both on-premises and cloud deployments.

What's new in Visualization Suite

This section describes a list of new features and enhancements in Hitachi Visualization Suite v6.3.0.

Single Sign-on with Pentaho Business Analytics Server

For on-premises installations, Visualization Suite users can now access their Pentaho dashboards and reports within the Visualization Suite Dashboards menu using their Visualization Suite login. For more information, see Setting up Single Sign On (SSO) with Pentaho Business Analytics Server.

Camera data import and export by CSV

Administrators can import a CSV file with the camera location data directly to Visualization Suite. Administrators can also export the list of cameras configured in Visualization Suite to a CSV file. For more information, see Managing camera CSV files.

Editable Object Coordinates

Through the Visualization Suite entity management, administrators can now clear--and modify--the coordinates of an existing object. This is useful for cameras that are identified for special surveillance situations. For more information, see Entity management.

Data Ingest V1 Connector improvement

Both the Computer-aided design (CAD) Intergraph and the ShotSpotter unique event ID is now included in the Visualization Suite entity name. This ID allows you to quickly cross reference data between systems.

Configuration file with standardized and clear values

The Visualization Suite video connector, Workflow, API, HVS, and CLI configuration files are improved with standardized, default, meaningful values. For more information, see Visualization Suite Configurations.

Genetec Security Center v5.8

This release adds support for the Genetec Security Center 5.8 Video Management Software. The v5.8 (and v5.5) Genetec video connectors provide the same capabilities, so your organization can access video from existing Security Center VMS systems from Visualization Suite. For more information, see Genetec security center connector.

NiceVision Connector v12.1

This release adds support for the NiceVision Connector v12.1 Video Management Software. For more information, see NiceVision Connector.

Fixed issues

The following table describes the issues that are fixed in Hitachi Visualization Suite v6.3.0.

Reference No.DescriptionFix
PS-8332ExacqVision Connector fails to display 'none' English character. The 'none' English character is supported.
PS-8608Search on Map does not work for a phrase containing white space. Phrases containing white space are returned in search results.
PS-8728Can't modify the service account when the domain name contains the _ or - character.Any service account can be modified.

Known issues (General)

The following table includes workarounds that will help you navigate the known limitations. This section is our way of letting you know that we are aware of any issues and are working toward permanent solutions.

Reference No.DescriptionWorkaround
PS-487Enabling custom layers that contain more than 5,000 data points can lead to performance issues.Do not upload a layer that contains more than 5,000 data points, and avoid layers that contain a local image.
PS-1094Versions of RabbitMQ later than 3.7 are not supported.Visualization Suite supports RabbitMQ versions up to 3.7. Use version 3.7 or earlier.
PS-7060After an ESRI layer is added to the map, clicking the shape on the map doesn't display a popup with the information that was specified for it.N/A
N/AVideo does not stream in Google Chrome if the Flash Player exception is not enabled for Visualization Suite.Enable Flash Player in Google Chrome.

Known issues (HVMS Base and HVMS)

The following workarounds will help you navigate the known issues and limitations with the integration with Hitachi Video Management Software Base (HVMS Base) and Hitachi Video Management Software (HVMS). This section is our way of letting you know that we are aware of any issues and working toward permanent solutions.

Table 1: Known issues (HVMS Base and HVMS)
Reference No.DescriptionWorkaround
IPC28958The Export function of HVMS Base version 2.8.0 does not work from Visualization Suite.Only use Export from HVMS Base.
IPC29093Cannot stream with Hight (rabbit), HVMS Base 2.8.0, OS Raspberry Pi. The following error displays: “Could not establish connection (ICE connection failed)”.Use a different installation OS, such as Windows 2016, for example.
N/AWebRTC message parse error: (Unable to parse remote candidates SDP) Error is shown on player.

This can be because the local IP address is being anonymized by Chrome into a UUID format that Orchid cannot accept.

See How to fix unable to parse remote candidate SDP error in Chrome.

N/AA "Could not establish connection (ICE connection failed)” error is shown on player. This depends on the networks' configuration. Ensure that the network is not blocking UDP traffic.
Table 2: Known limitations (HVMS Base and HVMS)
Reference No.DescriptionWorkaround
IPC-18867The “HTTP Authentication failed error, no valid credentials available” error is displayed when HVMS Base are registered on both Hitachi Video Management Software (HVMS) and Visualization Suite (HVS).Register the HVMS Base on only one server--either Hitachi Video Management Software (HVMS) or Visualization Suite (HVS).
PS-5281HVS Videowall Hight (rabbit)/Low (Turtle) control does not synchronize with “Try low-bandwidth Mose” option in the video player.

Use the videowall control to switch between low and high bandwidth.

When video cannot stream in high bandwidth mode, the video pane might show 'Try Low-bandwidth Mode' link. You can click on the link and video will start streaming at low bandwidth mode. However, the videowall control will remain as Rabbit even though streaming is in low bandwidth mode as the videowall control does not track the link action.

PS-5282Hight (rabbit)/Low (Turtle) control on the VideoWall is not available.Use HVMS 2.4.1 and HVMS Base 2.2.2 because the Low/Hight Mode option on the VideoWall is not supported by the most recent release of HVMS and HVMS base.
N/AVideowall does not provide HVMS player controls. When viewing HVMS cameras in the videowall, the HVMS player will not provide timeline and header controls, such as the view statistics tool. Visualization Suite hides most of the player controls due to the limited video space in the user interface.
