Administering Dropzone

The HVS Dropzone enables easy upload of video and images to be stored in Evidence Management. Sources of Digital Assets (examples: videos, images, documents, audio files) can be from a streaming security camera, a body-cam docking station, or manually added video or image files. Video streams and body-cam docking stations can be configured to upload to the Dropzone automatically.

When uploading files, the Dropzone adds metadata to automatically organize digital assets to ensure the files are easily searchable. Uploaded date and time, uploaded location, which camera, location of origin of the digital asset, and officer badge ID are all automatically stored as metadata.

Note: Bade ID and camera ID need to be mapped as part of the required configuration.

Digital Asset

Files are uploaded and stored in the product, often as evidence in a case.

Examples: videos, images, documents, audio files

Configure the Dropzone within HVS.

Note: Once configured, do not modify the fields in the configuration interface.

The following fields are in the configuration interface for the HVS Dropzone:

HVS URL (Read Only)

Specifies the URL for the REST API. This is not configurable by the user.

Example: https://api.gothampdsurveillance.com

Local Watch Folder

Specifies the local directory to the folder that will be synced with HVS. Any videos or images added to this folder automatically upload to HVS.

Local Processed Folder

Specifies the local directory to the folder where completed files are stored. Once videos or images are uploaded from the Local Watch Folder, the videos or images are moved to the Local Processed Folder.

Dropzone Location

Specifies the physical location of where the video or images were taken.

Examples: City name, or precinct number.

Case-BadgeID Mapping File (Read Only)

Specifies the directory of the json file where officer badge ID's are mapped to the camera. To update which camera is assigned to an officer, open the specified directory and edit the json file.

Note: The json file is initially set up by Hitachi technicians.

Asset Entity Type ID (Read Only) and Case Entity Type ID (Read Only)

(Only needed for support) Defines the unique ID's that connects the Asset- or Case Entities in the backend database.
