Managing resources

You can modify or remove resources that are managed by UCP Advisor

You must be assigned the appropriate administrator-level role according to the type of resource you want to manage, as shown in the following table. Note that the name of the administrator role differs according to the resource type.

Managing storage systems

Users with administrator-level permissions can modify and remove compute devices managed by UCP Advisor.

Modifying a storage system

You can modify the serial number, management IP address, username, and password for a storage system that is managed by UCP Advisor. You can also change the controller information option.

Before you begin

Verify that your administrator-level permission role is Administrator User Group.

Procedure

  1. In the Navigator window, click Administration > Storage.

  2. Select the storage system that you want to modify.

  3. Click the Edit Storage System icon.

  4. Modify the information, and then click Submit.

Removing a storage system

You can remove a storage system from the inventory managed by UCP Advisor.

Before you begin

Verify that your administrator-level permission role is Administrator User Group.

Procedure

  1. In the Navigator window, click Administration > Storage System.

  2. Select the storage system that you want to remove.

  3. Click the Remove Storage System icon.

  4. Confirm that you want to remove the selected storage system, and then click Yes.

Managing chassis devices

Users with administrator-level permissions can modify and remove compute devices managed by UCP Advisor.

Modifying a chassis device

You can modify the information for a chassis device managed by UCP Advisor.

Before you begin

Verify that your administrator-level permission role is Administrators.

Procedure

  1. In the Navigator window, click Administration > Chassis.

  2. Select the chassis device that you want to modify.

  3. Click the Edit Chassis Device icon.

  4. Modify the information, and then click Submit.

Removing a chassis device

You can remove a chassis device from the inventory managed by UCP Advisor. When a chassis device is removed, all associated compute blades are also removed.

Before you begin

Verify that your administrator-level permission role is Administrators.

Procedure

  1. In the Navigator window, click Administration > Chassis.

  2. Select the chassis device that you want to remove.

  3. Click the Remove Chassis Device icon.

  4. Confirm that you want to remove the selected chassis device, and then click Yes.

Managing compute devices

Users with administrator-level permissions can modify and remove compute devices managed by UCP Advisor.

Modifying a compute device

You can modify a compute device that is managed by UCP Advisor.

Before you begin

Verify that your administrator-level permission role is Administrator.

Procedure

  1. In the Navigator window, click Administration > Compute.

  2. Select the compute device that you want to modify.

  3. Click the Edit Compute Device icon.

  4. Modify the information, and then click Submit.

Removing a compute device

You can remove an existing compute device from the inventory managed by UCP Advisor.

Before you begin

Verify that your administrator-level permission role is Administrator .

Procedure

  1. In the Navigator window, click Administration > Compute.

  2. Select the compute device that you want to remove.

  3. Click the Remove Compute Device icon.

  4. Confirm that you want to remove the selected compute device, and then click Yes.

Managing network switches

Users with administrator-level permissions can modify and remove network switches managed by UCP Advisor.

Modifying a network switch

You can modify the IP address, username, and password for a network switch that is managed by UCP Advisor.

Before you begin

Verify that your administrator-level permission role is network-admin.

Procedure

  1. In the Navigator window, click Administration > Network.

  2. Select the network switch that you want to modify.

  3. Click the Edit Switch icon.

  4. Modify the information, and then click Submit.

Removing a network switch

You can remove a network switch from the inventory that is managed by UCP Advisor.

Before you begin

Verify that your administrator-level permission role is network-admin.

Procedure

  1. In the Navigator window, click Administration > Network.

  2. Select the network switch that you want to remove.

  3. Click the Remove Switch icon.

  4. Confirm that you want to remove the selected network switch, and then click Yes.
