About this document

This document (RN-92ADPTR137-02, 4 2018) provides late-breaking information about Hitachi Block Storage Driver for OpenStack v05.1.0. It includes information that was not available at the time the technical documentation for this product was published, as well as a list of known problems and solutions.

Intended audience

This document is intended for customers and Hitachi Vantara partners who license and use Hitachi Block Storage Driver for OpenStack.

About this release

This release is a major release that adds new features and resolves multiple known problems.

· Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G350, G370, G700, G900, F350, F370, F700, F900 support

· Distributions for the OpenStack Pike release

· Configuration Manager REST API support

· Generic volume group support

· Revert to snapshot support

· Restoring a volume or snapshot by Hitachi extended function is disabled because it is now available by OpenStack's standard function.

· Volume Migration (storage assisted) support

· Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G1000, G1500, F1500 iSCSI support

The software and hardware listed below is supported by this release. Hardware and/or software not listed in the table(s) below is not supported by this release

Operating Systems

The Hitachi Block Storage Driver for OpenStack supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7.4 (64 bit).

Note: Upgrading libvirt version to 3.2.0-14.el7_4.9.x86_64 is essential to use Hitachi Block Storage Driver v5.1.0. For details of upgrading the libvirt, see "Known problems (1)"

Software

The Hitachi Block Storage Driver for OpenStack supports the Configuration Manager REST API version 8.5.4-00 or later.

Note: The storage interface has been changed from Command Control Interface (CCI) to Configuration Manager REST API. For details of the settings, see the document user guide.

Known problems

1) When using libvirt version (3.2.0-14.el7_4.7.x86_64) in multipath setting, there is a problem that the volume can be referenced from a VM that is not the object to which the volume was attached. To solve this problem, please refer to the following errata and update the version of libvirt to 3.2.0-14.el7_4.9.x86_64.

2) If the following Message ID and Required action message appears at migration execution, please use host assisted migration option(--force-host-copy).

0732-E	Remove the cause of the error by following the message output by the REST API server. If the "code" value in the message is {u'SSB1': u'2E13', u'SSB2': u'6003'}, run the cinder migrate command with the --force-host-copy True option.
0738-E	Run the cinder migrate command with the --force-host-copy True option.
